REMINDER: Early Voting and General Election Information in Tompkins County

The Tompkins County Board of Elections is encouraging all registered voters to make a plan for casting your ballot in the 2024 General Election.

Early voting will be available at the Ithaca Town Hall (215 N. Tioga St, Ithaca) and the Crash Fire Rescue Building (72 Brown Rd, Ithaca) from Saturday, October 26 - Sunday, November 3. Any eligible voter in Tompkins County can vote at either early voting site.

Voters can check registration status, search for poll sites, and track absentee ballots any time through the New York State Voter Lookup Tool.

As of October 24, 2024, there are 59,975 (32,578 Democrats, 10,348 Republicans, 3,332 "Other," and 13,717 "Blank") individuals registered to vote in Tompkins County.

The last day to register to vote in New York State is October 26. If you are not yet registered to vote, you can register online or with a paper registration form. The Tompkins County Board of Elections can register voters at its office (128 E. Buffalo St, Ithaca) during regular business hours (9am-5pm) or at an upcoming voter registration event on Saturday, October 26, 9am-9pm.

Voters should note the following important dates:

• Early Voting: Saturday October 26 - Sunday November 3, polls open at 9am every day, check hours online
• Last day to register to vote and for the Board of Elections to receive absentee or Early Voting by mail applications by mail or Online - October 26
• Last day to apply in person for absentee or Early Voting by mail applications over the counter at the Board of Elections - November 4
• Last day to postmark a General Election ballot or last day to deliver a General Election ballot in person to a polling site or the Board of Elections - November 5
• General Election: November 5, polls are open 6am-9pm

The Tompkins County Board of Elections reminds voters that the Board does not send unsolicited mail or robo-calls. The Board only sends ballot request applications or registration forms upon request by the voter.

Alanna Congdon, Republican Election Commissioner, stated "Because this is a Presidential election year we are preparing for high voter turnout. Please make a plan for casting your ballot and consider voting early."

Democratic Commissioner Steve DeWitt stated, "We're encouraging people to do Early Voting because we're expecting increased turnout for election day. In 2022, the last time there were federal elections, 7,158 of the total 35,543 Tompkins County voters voted early - I think we'll see those numbers increase this year. I want to thank our staff and poll workers for their efforts, there's a lot of time and expertise that goes into managing elections at the local level."
