Bunny Trail Reconstruction Project groundbreaking to be held July 23

KILLEEN, Texas (July 16, 2024) - The City of Killeen's Engineering Division of Development Services will host a groundbreaking for the beginning the Bunny Trail Renovation Project on Tuesday, July 23 at 9 a.m. at Haynes Elementary School (3309 West Canadian River Loop).

Bunny Trail was one of the roads residents requested the City focus on as a part of the City's Comprehensive Plan and dedication to improving roads, and the reconstruction project has been a top priority for the city.

At its May 7 meeting, City Council approved a contract by RT Schneider to complete the project for $5.8 million. The project includes full replacement of the roadway, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and drainage at the intersection of West Stan Schlueter Loop. The project extends from Stan Schlueter Loop to Canadian River Loop.

Speakers at the groundbreaking include Mayor Debbie Nash-King and City engineer Andrew Zagars.

The project is expected to last at least 300 days (accounting for holidays). Quarterly updates on all major road projects can be found at www.KilleenTexas.gov/Engineering.
