Texas Woman’s ranked among nation’s best universities

Sept. 13, 2024 ― DENTON ― Two national publications that specialize in financial news - the Wall Street Journal and Forbes ― have named Texas Woman's University a top choice among the nation's 4,000-plus, four-year colleges and universities.

Texas Woman's was among the top 500 institutions selected for the WSJ/College Pulse 2025 Best Colleges in the U.S. list, ranking fifth among 18 public colleges and universities in Texas that made the index. In all, Texas has 39 public universities.

Additionally, WSJ/College Pulse ranked TWU third in Texas for social mobility and best value, fourth for student experience, and fifth for best salaries, the category that focuses on graduates' job income after they graduate.

The WSJ/College Pulse rankings are based on student outcomes, learning environment and diversity, with student outcomes accounting for 70% of the weighted score. Among the factors considered in the outcomes are graduates' salaries, graduation rates and how quickly the institution's education pays for itself through the salary attributable to the college education.

Learning environment, which accounted for 20% of the ranking, reflect student views on learning opportunities, career preparation, facilities and whether the student would recommend an education at that institution. Diversity, accounting for 10%, assesses a student's exposure to people from different backgrounds.

Texas Woman's also was named to the Forbes America's Top Colleges list, which included 24 Texas institutions on its index of 500 ranked colleges and universities. Forbes took into account alumni salary (20%), student debt (15%), graduation rate (15%), leadership and entrepreneurial success (15%), return on investment (15%), retention rate (10%) and academic success (10%) in its ranking methodology.
