Board of Josephine County Commissioners, Fair Board to host town hall for agriculture, nutrition education groups

The Board of Josephine County Commissioners and the Josephine County Fair Board are hosting a town hall meeting to hear from members of local agriculture and nutrition education organizations.

The town hall will take place Sept. 19 from 6-8 p.m. at the Josephine County FairgroundsFloral Building, 1451 Fairgrounds Road in Grants Pass.

"This is an extremely important subject to our community and we are looking for solutions," said Tamra Martin, Josephine County Recreation director. "The goal of this town hall is to provide a platform for the affected clubs and programs to discuss what is needed for support to find a path forward here in Josephine County, which may include physical space, financial or educational partnerships - really anything else that you may need."

Designated speakers from area agriculture and nutrition education groups have been asked to share information with board members during the town hall meeting. While the meeting is open to the public, there will not be a public comment opportunity during the town hall. Community members wishing to provide feedback are encouraged to do so using the Citizen Request Center or by attending a regularly scheduled Weekly Business Session of the Board of Josephine County Commissioners.

In an effort to hear from all organizations, future town halls may be scheduled.

"We want as many people interested in finding solutions as possible to be a part of this conversation," Martin said. "Thank you for all that you do for Josephine County. I look forward to your input as we look toward the future."

Members of local groups wishing to provide information during the town hall are asked to contact Martin using the Citizen Request Center.
