Medical Event May Have Caused Two-Vehicle Crash on Briley Parkway

The man who died Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash on Briley Parkway is identified as Mark Russell, 50, of Gallatin.

The preliminary investigation shows that Russell was driving a Honda Civic south on Briley Parkway when, for reasons unknown, the car veered to the left and struck a Toyota Camry. The Civic did not sustain major damage. It is suspected that Russell may have suffered a medical event prior to the collision although doctors could not confirm this. No one else was injured.

All involved were wearing seatbelts. There was no evidence of impairment at the scene.
