The Troop C Traffic Incident Management Unit was out with members of the New York State Department of Transportation today as part of "Crash Responder Safety Week". One focus of the initiative is the enforcement of the Move Over Law after multiple, serious incidents that occurred recently involving members of the New York State Police, Department of Transportation and Thruway Authority.
The Move Over Law enforcement took place along Interstate 81 in Preble where workers were fixing delineators.
The Move Over Law requires all drivers to slow down and move over (if safe to do so) when approaching ALL stopped vehicles. That includes law enforcement officers, emergency responders, construction and maintenance crews, tow truck operators and anyone working along the roadway.
