NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Director of Aviation and Deputy Director of Tourism Dr. Kenneth Romer pledged the support of local aviation partners to more than 400 aviation leaders and decision makers of the Latin American & Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), during the Second Annual Bahamas Aviation Week.

The Opening Ceremony was held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in the Ballroom of Baha Mar resort on Cable Beach. Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis delivered the keynote address.

Dr. Romer in his welcome referred to the large group of delegates as "Family, because that is who we are as an Aviation Ecosystem."

He added, "Our bonds transcend and defy geographical, socioeconomic, demographic and even political divides and we collectively continue to demonstrate to the world that we are indeed, 'Paving the Runway for Development': one that promotes an ecosystem that brings value to Latin America & the Caribbean."

Continued Dr. Romer, "As we continue to explore key subjects around region competitiveness, innovations, sustainability, connectivity and strengthening our relationship within Latin America and the Caribbean, I pledge the full support of your Bahamian Aviation Partners."

He said although The Bahamas is a proud nation, its greatest asset is not its beautiful product but the people.

During Aviation Week, ALTA held its AGM & Airline Leaders Forum, which is in its 20th year.

This forum provides an invaluable opportunity for stakeholders to share ideas, address common challenges, and collaborate on ways to strengthen the aviation network across Latin America and the Caribbean.

This gathering is especially meaningful as it aligns with Bahamas Aviation Week, a time to recognize the progress and dedication that drive the aviation sector. It also provides opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange and the sharing of best practices.

Bahamas Aviation Week is being held October 27 to November 1, 2024.
