Covington Continues EMEA Private Equity Push with Lyndsey Laverack and Jade Williams-Adedeji

July 1, 2024

LONDON-Lyndsey Laverack and Jade Williams-Adedeji have joined Covington's London office as partners in the firm's global private equity practice. Their arrivals follow appointments of Mark Thompson in March 2022 and Adrian Chiodo in March 2024, both resident in the London office.

Lyndsey focuses her practice on private equity and cross-border M&A. She regularly represents private equity and other investment funds and REITs on transactions in privately held companies, including acquisitions and disposals, control and minority equity investments, and complex joint ventures. Lyndsey has experience across a range of heavily regulated sectors including life sciences and financial services and she has particular expertise with equity investments into both development and standing operational real estate and social infrastructure assets.

Jade advises clients on the full investment cycle of real estate ownership and has wide ranging experience of both debt and equity investments, and direct asset acquisition and disposal. Jade's experience covers occupational matters, asset operation, development and distressed investments across a wealth of asset classes. Jade regularly advises private equity investors, investment funds and strategic investors on secured lending, structured real estate income, restructuring, servicing existing property portfolios, and property finance matters in general.

"Having just announced the arrival of Adrian Chiodo, who brings with him considerable experience in leveraged finance, we are thrilled to be able to welcome Lyndsey and Jade to the group. Covington is uniquely positioned to assist private equity funds as they face increased regulation and compliance obligations around the world, and private equity remains a focus for our corporate practice in EMEA and globally," said Catherine Dargan, chair of Covington's Corporate practice.

Mark Thompson, the head of Covington's Private Equity Practice, commented: "The arrivals of Lyndsey and Jade mark a step change in the continuing growth of our EMEA private equity capabilities, following the appointment of Adrian Chiodo, who joined us earlier this spring. We see a lot of potential in the current market, and are confident that further strengthening of the team will be well received by clients who seek to capitalize on the firm's expertise in highly regulated industries, such as energy and infrastructure, financial services, life sciences and technology."

"Covington has a tremendous reputation across highly regulated industries, which is increasingly the added requirement of private equity clients. These truly distinguished capabilities offer an exciting platform for our practice," said Lyndsey. She continued: "In addition, Covington's collegial culture and focus on collaboration is an attractive proposition that makes a huge amount of sense both to us as practitioners and to our clients."

Jade added: "In addition to the breadth and scope of expertise that will be of incredible value to our clients, Covington's leading projects and infrastructure practices are highly complementary to our existing practice. We look forward to the opportunity to make a difference to the firm's growing private equity capabilities at this exciting time."

Jade is a graduate of King's College London. Lyndsey received her undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford. Both are admitted to practice in England and Wales.
