Officer-Involved Shooting - West 5th Street and Pacific Avenue - On August 7, 2024 at approximately 9:10 PM, officers were dispatched to a multiple reports of man brandishing a firearm on the Metro Rail platform at W 5^th St and Pacific Avenue. Officers arrived and located the suspect. The suspect immediately exited the platform and fled on foot. Officers went in foot pursuit, and, during the pursuit, an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers rendered medical aid to the suspect and requested LBFD paramedics. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his upper body. The suspect was medically cleared and transported to the Long Beach City Jail for booking. No officers were injured, and no other injuries were reported. A replica firearm was recovered at the scene. The investigation is on-going.
