Bus collision results in 11 people transported to local hospitals

Seattle - At 6:56 p.m., the Seattle Fire Department's Fire Alarm Center received 911 calls reporting that a bus collided with a building at 5th Avenue and Terrace Street in downtown Seattle. The dispatch initially went out as a rescue extrication response. All passengers exited the bus without needing assistance from firefighters.

The response was quickly upgraded to a mass casualty incident to bring in additional units for treating the high number of patients. No fatalities resulted from the collision.

In total, 11 patients were transported to local hospitals.

Crews treated a 54-year-old male in critical condition. The critical patient was transported to Harborview Medical Center by paramedics. The remaining ten patients, all adults, were in stable condition. AMR responded to assist in treating and transporting patients.

Seattle City Light responded to manage electrical service lines powering streetlights knocked down by the collision.

The Seattle Police Department, the King County Sheriff's Office, and King County Metro also responded to the incident.

Law enforcement is investigating the collision.
