The City of Westland Street Sweeping Schedule is as follows:

October 2 - Thursday's Garbage Route Section

October 7 - Tuesday's Garbage Route Section

Please make sure all vehicles are off the street.

Westland Farmers and Artisans Market will be held on Thursday, October 3rd from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Central City Park (1901 N. Carlson). Our mission is to provide a link between the healthy food grown by local farmers and the residents who want access to food from local growers. We also invite local artisans and musicians to be part of the market as well. Cash, credit, and EBT are accepted forms of payment.

On Saturday, October 5th from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. stop by the Ralph Savini Fire Station (37501 Central City Pkwy) for a Fire Prevention Lunch with Westland's Bravest. There will be free hot dogs, a bounce house, station tours, and much more.

Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center located at 32150 Dorsey Rd. offers no cost programs:

  • Jefferson Barns Library: Monday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m., Wednesday 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., Friday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Books for everyone - all ages, all subjects; reading assistance available
  • Jefferson Barns Learning Lab: tutoring, robotics, coding. Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.; Register at: jbllnorwwayne.com
  • Pickleball: Monday, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m., Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Norwayne Community Gardens: looking for volunteers and Community Sponsors to assist the Norwayne Community Gardens at JBCVC, Newago Court and West Side.

On Saturday, October 12th Wayne-Westland Special Olympics and the Wayne-Westland Duo are hosting a Music Bingo Fundraiser at the Harris-Kehrer VFW Post 3233 (1055 N. Wayne Rd.) Doors Open at 5:30 pm and music Bingo starts at 6:00 pm. Entry is $20 with a cash bar. This non-refundable event includes 3 rounds of bingo. Pre-sale tickets before October 12 will be entered for a door prize so get your tickets early! To purchase tickets please visit: PayPal. There will be concessions available for purchase!

October 19th is the Harvest Festival at Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center (32150 Dorsey)! From 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. you can stop by for free family fun including pumpkin painting, pony rides, live music, trick or treating, cider, donuts, and more!

Mayor Kevin Coleman invites you to Trunk or Treat at the 18th District Court on Wednesday, October 23rd. Starting at 5:30 p.m., stop by the Court parking lot located at 36675 Ford Rd. for a spooktacular evening of Halloween fun! Kids 12 and under are invited to dress up in their favorite costumes and enjoy trick-or-treating from creatively decorated car trunks.
