President Biden recently announced a new Executive Action that will allows eligible noncitizen spouses and children to apply for permanent residence without leaving the country.
This initiative, a significant step towards promoting family unity, boosting the economy, and benefiting both citizens and noncitizen family members, holds the promise of a brighter future for many.
To be eligible for this "Parole in Place," noncitizens must meet specific criteria, such as having resided in the U.S. for at least ten years, being legally married to a U.S. citizen before June 17, 2024, be present in the United States without admission or parole, in addition, individuals must have no disqualifying criminal history. If approved, families can apply for permanent residency and work authorization for up to three years, allowing them to stay together in the United States.
This protection will benefit around half a million spouses of U.S. citizens and about 50,000 noncitizen children under 21.
President Biden's executive order is a positive step towards protecting immigrant families and strengthening our communities.
Important: This Executive Action for Parole in Place is not actively accepting applications at this time and we are still awaiting instructions on the process. Please be cautious to avoid falling victim to scams; preparers, notaries, or anyone promising representation based on this announcement.
