CCAC Center for Education, Innovation & Training Awarded LEED Silver Certification

The Center for Education, Innovation & Training at CCAC.

CCAC has achieved LEED v4.1 Silver certification for the college's flagship Center for Education, Innovation & Training (CEIT). As the world's most widely used green building rating system, the LEED certification program officially recognizes projects that comply with the requirements prescribed within the LEED rating systems as created and maintained by the U.S. Green Building Council®. It is administered by Green Business Certification Inc. and provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings, which offer environmental, social and governance benefits.

"CCAC's LEED v4.1 Silver certification is impressive, but what makes it even more so is the fact that the CEIT project is the first nonresidential new construction project in Pennsylvania to achieve any level of LEED v4.1 certification. This is an outstanding result and a win-win for both CCAC and the environment," said Dr. Quintin Bullock, CCAC president.

There were many factors that contributed to CCAC earning this coveted designation, including these impactful statistics:

  • 40% indoor water use reduction
  • 85% outdoor water use reduction
  • 8% operational carbon savings
  • Four product categories (flooring, paint, wall and ceiling products) meet low-emitting criteria
  • 70% open space that is accessible for use by the CCAC community
  • 45 products installed that feature environmental product declarations that quantify material life cycle impacts
