Arkansas Virtual Academy taking enrollment applications

Orginially published on Magnolia Reporter- July 8th, 2024

Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA), a full-time online public school serving K-12 students throughout the state, is now accepting enrollments for the 2024-25 school year.

ARVA is the state's leading virtual public school and offers students a personalized education experience with the support of Arkansas-certified teachers.

"At ARVA, we believe every student deserves access to a high-quality education that fits their unique needs," said Amy Johnson, ARVA's executive director. "Our virtual learning platform, combined with the dedication of our teachers and support staff, allows students to thrive academically and personally."

ARVA's curriculum is developed by K12, Inc., an education leader with more than 20 years of experience delivering online education to students nationwide. The school offers multiple career paths, including a robust Career Technical Education (CTE) program, allowing students to pair a solid academic foundation with hands-on learning experiences.

Vivian Willis, 17, graduated early from ARVA in May. While attending virtual classes, she was able to set her own schedule and earn key workforce certifications, including in Microsoft Quickbooks, and was soon to earn a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant certification.

"I have two completed pathways, one of them being medical office, and the other one being business finance," Willis said. "I'm really happy with all of the opportunities that certifications have and will be offering me. As a 17-year-old graduating early, my resume is looking really good for such a young age."

In addition to the virtual learning system that students and families can access anytime from anywhere with an internet connection, ARVA hosts in-person events and touchpoints to foster a sense of community. In 2023, the school opened a brick-and-mortar Education Hub in downtown Little Rock - a first for K12.

"The Education Hub is an exciting addition to our school, providing students with opportunities for face-to-face interactions and career readiness training," Johnson said. "It's just one of the many ways we're working to support our students and families."

Since its establishment in 2003, ARVA has grown to serve more than 4,000 students across all 75 counties in Arkansas. As a tuition-free public school, ARVA is accessible to all students in the state, regardless of their location or socioeconomic background.

Families interested in enrolling their children in ARVA for the 2024-2025 school year can visit the school's website at arva.k12.com for more information and to begin the enrollment process.
