Five winners will receive vouchers during the awards ceremonies on campus.
The VWO 6 winners of the Mathematical Olympiad can study at TU Eindhoven for free for a year. The University Fund Eindhoven has established an award for this purpose - the UFe Math Olympiad Talent Grant - which covers the tuition fees for the first year. On Friday afternoon, November 8, the five winners will receive a voucher for a year of free study during the award ceremony for the Mathematical Olympiad at TU/e.
The University Fund Eindhoven (UFe) is a charitable foundation that focuses on finding solutions to societal issues and supports researchers and students in this effort. The UFe has, among others, a special fund for the talent development of students.
Over the next five years, the UFe will use this to provide an award for the VWO 6 winners of the Mathematical Olympiad: if they begin a bachelor's program at TU/e the following year, they will not have to pay the tuition fees of €2,601 for that first year.
"This new grant seamlessly aligns with our goal of fostering talent," says Henk Kivits, chairman of the UFe. "The Mathematical Olympiad has been collaborating with TU/e for many years and the greatest mathematic talents in the Netherlands take part in it. We're pleased to assist these top talents in making a flying start to their academic education in Eindhoven."
Robert-Jan Smits, president of the Executive Board, is full of praise for the new award. "We have enormous appreciation for this initiative by the UFe. There is an insatiable demand for top scientific talent in the Brainport region and this helps attract the best mathematics talents to Eindhoven. I would like to congratulate the UFe and, of course, the winners of this award."
