Somalia National Day

On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people and Government of Somalia on your 64th National Day.

The United States commends the sacrifices the people of Somalia have made in the fight to defeat terrorism and build peace. The United States looks forward to strengthening our shared bonds as we work together on governance, reconciliation, inclusive economic growth, and resiliency to drought and other climatic shocks. On this anniversary, I look forward to the year ahead where the United States will partner with Somalia bilaterally and on the UN Security Council to advance peace and stability in Horn of Africa and around the globe.

The United States wishes the people of Somalia a peaceful and prosperous year ahead.
