City temporarily expands hours for yard waste disposal

Starting today through Oct. 13, Fayette County residents can dispose of yard waste from the storm at no charge at the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility (4216 Hedger Lane). Hours are 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. every day. You must arrive by 5 p.m. for service. A driver's license or other proof of residence in Fayette County is required.

Residents with city waste service can use their grey carts and yard waste bags for disposal of leaves and limbs. Limbs also may be stacked between the sidewalk and curb for collection once they are cut into 4-foot sections. Please help employees work efficiently, especially during this busy time, by bundling loose limbs. Those without sidewalks should place debris at the edge of their yard, close to the curb. Material will be picked-up as part of normal weekly service.

After Oct. 13, operations at Haley Pike will return to normal. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The facility is closed to the public on Wednesdays and on weekends. Year-round, Fayette County residents can bring two pickup-truck loads of brush/yard waste each month free of charge. A pickup load is considered a regular full-size 8-foot bed. A double-axle 16-foot trailer counts as two loads. The cost of each additional load is $28 a ton.
