CONGRESSMAN DANNY K. DAVIS RELEASES RESULTS FROM CONSTITUENT SURVEY ON PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY

Chicago, IL- Congressman Danny K. Davis is pleased to share the results of a recent constituent survey regarding opinions on presidential immunity from prosecution. The survey, which received 1,611 responses, aimed to gauge public sentiment on whether the President of the United States should be granted immunity from prosecution during and after their tenure in office. Constituents responded to the survey from June 21, 2024 to July 2, 2024.

Key findings from the survey include:

  • Immunity During Tenure: An overwhelming 90.6% of respondents believe the President should not be granted immunity from prosecution for crimes committed during their tenure, with only 7% in favor.
  • Immunity After Tenure: A similarly significant 93% of respondents oppose immunity for crimes committed after their tenure, with only a small minority supporting it.

The demographic breakdown of survey participants included:

  • Gender: 57.9% female, 40% male, and 2.5% other.
  • Age: The largest age group was 65-74 years old (23.7%), followed by 35-44 years old (18.9%), and 55-64 years old (17.3%).
  • Race/Ethnicity: 54.3% Black or African American, 26.6% Hispanic or Latino, 7.6% Asian or Pacific Islander, among others.

Congressman Davis expressed his gratitude for the participation and emphasized the importance of public opinion in shaping policy. "The clear message from my constituents is that no one should be above the law, including the President. These results will guide my efforts in Congress to ensure accountability and uphold the rule of law," said Congressman Davis.
