Nobel Laureate Thomas Sargent Joins Cato Institute

Washington, D.C. - The Cato Institute announces that Thomas J. Sargent, a Nobel Prize-winning economist and Professor of Economics at New York University (NYU), will join the Institute as a Visiting Scholar with the Center for Monetary & Financial Alternatives, effective August 1, 2024. Dr. Sargent will focus on groundbreaking research at the intersection of fiscal and monetary policy, furthering Cato's mission to advance public policies based on individual liberty, limited government, free markets, and peace.
