Air Force Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, a decorated F-16 fighter pilot, will address attendees as mid general session keynote speaker during the 2025 American Farm Bureau Convention on Sunday, Jan. 26. Rooney is founder and CEO of Folds of Honor, a nonprofit foundation that provides educational scholarships for children and spouses of fallen or disabled military service members and first responders. The foundation has provided nearly 62,000 military and first responder families with $290 million in scholarships since its founding in 2007.
Rooney's military service included three combat tours to Iraq where he flew the F-16 Viper. He continues his military service today as a U.S. Air Force ambassador tasked with inspiring the next generation of service members to give the same devotion to our nation that he has demonstrated throughout his career. Rooney is also the author of two best-selling books, "A Patriot's Calling" and "Fly Into the Wind."
"Farmers, ranchers and members of the military center their lives around hard work, perseverance and dedication," said AFBF President Zippy Duvall. "We look forward to hearing Lt. Col. Rooney's inspiring message as we reflect on how we serve our communities."
The theme of AFBF's 106th convention, which will be held Jan. 24-29, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, is "Step Up, Drive Forward." Duvall will give his annual address to Farm Bureau members during the opening general session on Sunday morning, Jan. 26.
A full lineup of engaging workshops will be available at convention. Workshops will be offered in four tracks - public policy, rural development, member engagement and consumer engagement. Topics will include the farm bill, hot issues in public policy, the 2024 election, farmer mental health, farm transition planning and engaging the next generation of agriculturists. A vibrant trade show with exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge innovations in agricultural technology, tools and services is also sure to capture the attention of attendees.
