PennDOT's Washington County Maintenance Update -- Week of September 2, 2024

Uniontown, PA - Washington County Maintenance Manager Susan Howard announced the following tentative work plan for the week of September 2. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Base repair:

  • Route 18 (Burgettstown Road) in Hanover, Mount Pleasant, and Smith townships and Burgettstown Borough
  • Route 40 (East National Pike) in Centerville Borough

Bridge replacement:

  • Route 3009 (Sunset Beach Road) in Buffalo Township

Road closed. Posted detour:

  • Route 3009 (Sunset Beach Road)
  • Route 40 (Chestnut Street Extension)
  • Route 221 (South Bridge Road)
  • Route 3009 (Cracraft Road)

Brushing:

  • Route 3025 (Good Intent Road) in Donegal and West Finley townships

Litter removal:

  • Interstate 70 in Fallowfield and Somerset townships and Speers and Twilight boroughs

Mowing:

  • I-70 Ramp 8014 (Jefferson Avenue) in the City of Washington
  • Route 136 (East Beau Street) Park and Ride in South Strabane Township
  • Route 221 (South Bridge Road) in Buffalo Township
  • Route 519 Ramp 9501 in North Strabane Township
  • Route 837 Ramp 8025 in Donora Borough

Patching:

  • Route 3021 (Old Brick Road) in West Finley Township

Pipe flushing:

  • Route 18 (Prosperity Pike) in Morris, North Franklin, and South Franklin townships

Seal coating:

  • Route 231 (East Finley Drive) in Blaine, Donegal, East Finley, and Independence townships and Claysville Borough
  • Route 3001 (Lake Road) in Donegal and Independence townships
  • Route 3003 (Dry Ridge Road) in Donegal Township
  • Route 3004 (Dutch Fork Church Road) in Donegal Township
  • Route 3005 (Liberty Road) in Donegal Township
  • Route 3016 (Sawhill Run Road) in East Finley Township
  • Route 3029 (Burnsville Ridge Road) in West Finley Township

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 136 (Beau Street) in East Washington, North Strabane, South Strabane, and Somerset townships
  • Route 1055 (Thomas Eighty Four/Brownlee Road) in Somerset Township

Side dozing:

  • Route 2041 (Maiden Street) in Ellsworth Township and Beallsville Borough

Slide repair:

  • Route 4012 (Center Street) in Smith Township

Spot milling:

  • Route 40 (Jefferson Avenue) in the City of Washington and Amwell and South Strabane townships

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern. This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623).

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
