WASHINGTON - At a time when deepfake imagery used to harass, extort, and humiliate women around the world is more accessible than ever, the National Organization for Women (NOW) and Campaign to Ban Deepfakes are hosting a media roundtable to gather thought leaders across technology, policy, and advocacy against gender-based violence to develop a holistic way to ban deepfakes and prevent the harm they cause. Pending legislation proposed by Rep. Morelle (D-NY) will be discussed along with other strategies to stop online sexual abuse.

The roundtable will be on Zoom on July 23 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET. For the first time, thought leaders will gather to discuss and answer reporter questions about deepfake AI from the perspective of protecting women.
