Watercrest Road Reconstruction Project groundbreaking to be held Sept. 24

Project to begin Oct. 14

The City of Killeen's Engineering Division of Development Services will host a groundbreaking for the beginning of the Watercrest Road Reconstruction Project on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m. at Fort Cavazos Regional Trail (Watercrest Drive and Cody Poe Road).

Watercrest was part of the Street Reconstruction Bond from Fiscal Year 2022 and was part of the previous pavement management program.

At its Aug. 6 meeting, City Council approved a contract by Cash Construction Company, Inc., to complete the project for $10.9 million. The project includes full road and sidewalk replacement from Clear Creek Road to Willow Springs Road. The road will also be narrowed going from four lanes to three, and a new traffic signal will be installed at Watercrest Road and Robinett Road.

Speakers at the groundbreaking include Mayor Debbie Nash-King and City engineer Andrew Zagars.

The project is expected to begin Oct. 14 and last no more than 395 days, ending in November 2025. Quarterly updates on all major road projects can be found at www.KilleenTexas.gov/Engineering.
