Moretown Resident Charged with Attempted Luring a Child and Violating Conditions of Release

The Attorney General's Office announced that Christopher Camp, 33, of Moretown, Vermont, was arraigned Friday on one felony count of Luring a Child and four misdemeanor counts of violation of conditions of release. The charges brought against Mr. Camp are the result of a criminal investigation initially conducted by the Vermont State Police and later referred to the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC) with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations, Bennington Police Department, and Manchester Police Department. Mr. Camp engaged in sexually explicit conversations with children on the Discord platform.

Mr. Camp was previously convicted of Attempted Luring a Child in 2019 in Washington County and is currently under probation supervision with a Violation of Probation charge pending. Since February 8, 2024, Mr. Camp has also been subject to court ordered conditions of release in Washington County for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material charges.

Mr. Lane pleaded not guilty at the arraignment Friday in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Criminal Division. The Court, Judge Michael Harris presiding, imposed $5,000 cash bail and ordered conditions of release that restrict Mr. Camp's contact with minors and his access to the internet.

VT-ICAC investigates cases of child sexual exploitation occurring over the internet, including the production and online distribution of child sexual abuse materials. VT-ICAC also provides forensic examination services, technical assistance, law enforcement training, and public education and outreach.
