Eugenia Duke Bridge Closed for Two Weeks Starting July 22

A popular pedestrian bridge located behind the Peace Center will be closed from Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26. The bridge will reopen to pedestrians on Friday, July 26 at 5:30 p.m. through Sunday, July 28.

Construction will continue on Monday, July 29 through Friday, August 2 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., reopening at night. The bridge is expected to reopen on Saturday, August 3, weather permitting.

Detour signage will be in place for pedestrians, using both the Main Street Bridge and Falls Park.

Workers will replace all the existing pine deck planks, which have deteriorated due to age. The new Thermo Ash decking has a lifespan of up to 25 years, which is at least three times longer than traditional wood decking. The new surface will receive an environmentally-friendly anti-slip coating, and the bridge structure will be repainted.
