ROCHESTER WOMAN CHARGED IN RETAIL THEFT CONSPIRACY

CLARENCE, N.Y. - Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of Breonna Burrows, 32, of Rochester as part of an investigation into a larceny involving three suspects at T.J. Maxx on Transit Rd. in Clarence.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on September 24th, patrol was dispatched to the store to investigate the larceny. While en route, a gray minivan matching the description of the offenders' vehicle crossed paths with patrol on Genesee St. in Lancaster. When patrol attempted a traffic stop, the operator of the minivan refused to stop, continued driving at a high rate of speed and ran a red light at Ransom Rd. As the vehicle was traveling at speeds up to approximately 90 miles per hour, the pursuit was terminated in the interest of safety.

A second patrol unit located the minivan further east near the intersection of Genesee St. and Walden Ave. in Alden, where once again it fled at a high rate of speed. At this point, dispatch notified the Genesee County Sheriff's Office that the suspects' vehicle was entering its jurisdiction. Deputies in Genesee County were able to successfully deploy spike strips on the vehicle, which was abandoned in the front yard of a home in the Town of Byron. The occupants of the vehicle fled, however deputies from the Genesee County Sheriff's Office located and took two females into custody. They were identified as Burrows and Sugeiry Vazquez, 35, of Rochester. The third suspect, a male, was not located and the investigation is ongoing.

The items reported stolen from T.J. Maxx were located in the minivan, which had been reported stolen to the Rochester Police Department. Additional stolen clothing and merchandise with security tags on them were located in the minivan as well.

Burrows was charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th degree and Conspiracy in the 5th degree. She was issued an appearance ticket and released. Charges are pending against Vazquez.

Sheriff Garcia thanks the Genesee County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police for their assistance in this investigation.
