USDA Reminds Trade to Stop Using Temporary Filing Codes for Organics

In a Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) bulletin published on August 9, 2024, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Organic Program (NOP) reminded the trade that it will no longer accept the temporary filing code (999-999-T) in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for organic entries that don't have an NOP Import Certificate.

The NOP Import Certificate must be acquired before the shipment departs the foreign port of lading. If a valid NOP Import Certificate is not available at the time of the entry filing, the shipment must be changed to non-organic status or reexported.

The temporary filing code will no longer be accepted after September 19, 2024.
