FASEB Provides Input on Evolving the Network of the National Library of Medicine

Monday, August 12, 2024
On August 9, FASEB submitted comments in response to a Request for Information issued by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) seeking new ideas to help improve access to health information made available through the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM), seven Health Sciences Libraries across the country that serve as medical information hubs for their respective region. In total, NNLM connects thousands of health sciences libraries to NLM resources to serve the health information needs of health professionals and the public.

FASEB's comments acknowledged NNLM's critical role in advancing data literacy, both within the research community and broader public, noting that the reach of NNLM resources could be further bolstered by key partnerships with grassroots initiatives within the research community. Similarly, NNLM can be positioned as a key resource for implementing open science strategies and enhancing public access to federally funded research.
