Suspect in custody less than 24 hours after fatal stabbing
On October 28, 2024, at approximately 1:07 p.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to the 700 block of O'Farrell Street on a report of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim lying on the ground suffering from stab wounds. Officers rendered aid and paramedics arrived on scene to render aid and transport the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of the emergency responders and medical staff the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased in the hospital.
The SFPD Homicide Detail took over the investigation.
Through the course of the investigation, investigators identified and developed probable cause to arrest 23-year-old male Reymundo Suarez-Gomez.
On October 29, 2024, at approximately 12:45 p.m., San Francisco Tenderloin plainclothes officers observed Suarez-Gomez walking in the area of Jones and Turk Streets and placed him under arrest without further incident.
Suarez-Gomez was booked into San Francisco County Jail on the charges of homicide (187(a) PC), probation violation (1203.2(a) PC), and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger (21310 PC).
