UL Solutions UL 360 Software Key to Our Emissions Reduction Targets

UL Solutions, a global leader in safety science, has used its own UL 360 environmental, social and governance (ESG) management software to set and track its science-based emissions reduction targets. Those targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Like many of our customers around the world, we utilized UL Solutions tools and experts to measure and report greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. UL 360, part of the ULTRUS™ portfolio of software from UL Solutions, helps customers by providing data collection, management, reporting and disclosure activities for enhanced ESG and sustainability plans.

The UL Solutions corporate sustainability team used UL 360 to collect relevant emissions data. The software's data analysis helped the team identify trends and recognize opportunities that could make a significant impact on our sustainability efforts. Utilizing UL 360 also helped us track data across supply chains, enabling us to establish an audit trail. Additionally, UL 360 provides quick access to UL Solutions' vast library of emissions data, calculations and tools, which can help us benchmark progress.

"Sustainability experts around the world trust UL 360 software, and our own ESG experts use it with the same confidence," said Marc Hobell, director and general manager of Enterprise Sustainability, ESG Data and Reporting at UL Solutions. "UL 360 was a key tool in enabling our corporate sustainability team to establish our GHG emissions baseline, and the software can assist with tracking our progress toward meeting our SBTi targets."

The SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. In 2021, UL Solutions pledged to join more than 4,000 companies in setting emissions reduction targets and having them validated by the SBTi.

Per this 2021 commitment, UL Solutions used UL 360 to collect our global emissions data. We then established a baseline for emissions and declared 10-year targets from a 2022 base year. On March 19, 2024, the SBTi approved UL Solutions' near-term science-based emissions reduction targets.

"UL 360 software is an essential tool for measuring and analyzing GHG emissions data, and we utilize it to help provide consistency in our reporting," said Pamela Diaz, senior manager of Environmental Sustainability at UL Solutions.
