Know What We Did This Summer

Looking back on the month of August, two things were top of mind for many of us - beating the heat and combating adversaries. With Prisma Cloud's August updates, you could remain cool in the cloud and stay ahead of threats while enjoying the summer.

What excites me most about the August updates is that users experienced more benefits from Palo Alto Networks Precision AI™ within the Prisma Cloud platform. Let's unpack last month's Prisma Cloud releases and why they matter.

Secure AI by Design

One trend I've seen this year is the unprecedented adoption of AI in the cloud. Users are onboard, whether it's AI-driven development or building their own AI models. In fact, according to our global survey, 100% of orgs are embracing AI-assisted coding.

But AI adoption, like all advancements, comes with challenges - namely, new attack vectors and compliance difficulties. But Palo Alto Networks has next, as we like to say, and Prisma Cloud is equipped to help you overcome your AI hurdles.

Generally available as of August 6, Prisma Cloud AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM) gives you visibility into your entire AI ecosystem - including your model, applications and resources.

You can build an inventory of managed AI assets and associated resources with Prisma Cloud. You can identify which data sources were used to train your model and prioritize critical AI risks with context such as sensitive data in training resources. You can quickly detect and respond to suspicious activity in your AI pipelines. With Prisma Cloud, you can even discover shadow AI.

Manage Multiple Prisma Cloud Tenants from One Console

The new multitenant portal is not driven by AI, but it's one of my favorite enhancements this month. Why? Because it helps managed security service providers (MSSPs) and distributed enterprises to truly scale their cloud security. The new multitenant portal, also known as the MSSP console, enables your organization to manage multiple tenants, security policies, alerts and licensing across multiple users or business units from one centralized console.

But really, what's in it for you? Well, with centralized monitoring of security incidents, users can create and assign custom security templates and access thousands of prebuilt policies, which help MSSPs tailor security services to your specific needs. Using the MSSP console with Prisma Cloud improves operational efficiency, accelerates time-to-market for services, and enhances security outcomes by minimizing coverage gaps and ensuring compliance with security standards.

Prevent AI Misconfigurations in Code

For several years, Prisma Cloud has helped organizations remove misconfigurations from infrastructure as code (IaC) templates. This proactive approach helps reduce the number of misconfigurations deployed to the cloud and allows engineers to address security issues earlier in the software development lifecycle, making fixes easier. In August, we extended this capability to AI and machine learning instances.

Within Prisma Cloud's IaC security capabilities, you can create custom policies under a new category called AI and Machine Learning. Policies are then applied during the build phase of the software development lifecycle and help streamline security for AI resources.

AI-Assisted Search for Investigations

Prisma Cloud introduced AI-assisted queries enabling you to retrieve both preconfigured and saved queries for faster and easier investigations. While traditional searching matches against keywords, this new feature uses AI-powered semantics.

You may want to find cloud assets that are reachable from unknown or untrusted internet sources, for example. By entering simple or natural language phrases like "public facing," you'll get your desired results. What's more, Prisma Cloud gives you the option to toggle AI-assisted search on and off as needed and provide feedback about our AI models as you search.
