New traffic pattern begins Aug. 7 for Raider Way/Woodview Drive project

07/29/2024 - Starting Wednesday, Aug. 7, in cooperation with Leander Independent School District (LISD) and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA), all vehicles accessing Woodview Drive and Raider Way in Leander will be directed through a new traffic detour. Until further notice, the following will take effect Aug. 7:

  • Traffic will be redirected to one-way eastbound on Woodview Drive and one-way southbound on Raider Way.
  • All vehicles needing access to Raider Way will be directed to enter Woodview Drive from the Toll 183A northbound frontage road.
  • All vehicles exiting Raider Way or Woodview Drive must exit southbound from Raider Way at the Crystal Falls Parkway intersection.
  • All northbound vehicles will be prohibited from entering Raider Way at Crystal Falls Parkway.

Neighborhood detour

Due to ongoing construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Woodview Drive and Raider Way, the following traffic detours will be activated for the Stewart Crossing and Marbella neighborhoods on Aug. 7, as well has residential properties located along Private Road 921:

  • All vehicles traveling to and from the Stewart Crossing and Marbella neighborhoods north of Woodview Drive must detour through Nolan Ranch Road. The northwest roundabout section will be closed.
  • Detour signage will be placed to direct vehicles along Nolan Ranch Road, Myrna Bend, and Carlene Pruett Street for access to and from Raider Way.
  • All vehicles traveling to Private Road 920 must also detour through Nolan Ranch Road, Myrna Bend, and Carlene Pruett Street for private road access from Raider Way. No through traffic will be allowed.

Drivers should plan ahead

Drivers should expect 30-45 delays when accessing Woodview Drive during LISD school day dropoff (7:30-9:30 a.m.) and pickup (2:30-4:30 p.m.) peak times. Please use extreme caution and follow all posted traffic signage when approaching the Crystal Falls Parkway intersections at Raider Way and Toll 183A frontage roads.

LISD student tips

The district is urging parents and students to consider alternate modes of transportation to reduce the traffic impacts during peak times. Below are some options.

  • Walk to school - Pedestrians will be able to access new sidewalks on the west side of Raider Way. Crossing guards will support walkers at the intersection of Crystal Falls Parkway. and Raider Way. However, please do not drop off or pick up students on Crystal Falls Parkway.
  • Utilize bus transportation - Buses have a dedicated route that takes students behind the schools for arrival and dropoff, minimizing the amount of time students are on Raider Way. Please consider this option as the most effective way to reduce traffic.
  • Carpool - Another option is making arrangements with other families to share rides. This is a great option for all parents to create more time for themselves by dividing up the responsibilities.

Project and traffic plan updates will be shared on the City's project page and on the LISD website.
