Los Angeles, CA - September 23, 2024 - Reggie Bush, one of the most influential collegiate football players of his generation, has filed a lawsuit against the NCAA, the University of Southern California (USC), and the Pac-12 Conference. The lawsuit, represented by McCathern Law, aims to address and rectify ongoing injustices stemming from the exploitation of Reggie Bush's name, image, and likeness during his tenure as a USC football player.
From the moment Reggie Bush joined USC, the NCAA, USC, and the Pac-12 Conference began capitalizing on his significant popularity. Revenue streams including lucrative TV contracts, merchandise sales, and extensive media rights have generated substantial profits for these organizations, all directly linked to Reggie Bush's prominence. Despite this, Reggie Bush has not received any compensation for the use of his name, image, or likeness. Even after Reggie transitioned to his successful NFL career, these entities continued to benefit financially from his reputation without any acknowledgment of his contribution.
Levi G. McCathern, II, attorney at McCathern Law and legal representative for Reggie Bush, stated, "We appreciate that the new administration at USC is trying to pick up the pieces of the former administrations' unjust and improper handling of Reggie Bush, however, the delay in fixing this speaks volumes."
Evan Selik of McCathern Law continued, "This case is not just about seeking justice for Reggie Bush; it's about setting a precedent for the fair treatment of all college athletes. Our goal is to rectify this injustice and pave the way for a system where athletes are rightfully recognized, compensated and treated fairly for their contributions."
