Haul increases for 2024 Fuel Reduction Program
Residents gathered more than 15 tons of brush for the 2024 Fuel Reduction Program, a haul that exceeded that of 2023 by nearly five tons, according to EDCO.
The waste hauler runs the brush collection program in cooperation with Del Mar's fire and public works departments.
Designed to create defensible space and promote wildfire safety, the program furnishes participating residents with free containers to fill with yard waste.
EDCO's data for 2024 shows:
- 60 3-yard containers were delivered and removed;
- 30,880 pounds (that's 15.44 tons) of green waste was collected; and
- 100% of the waste was recycled.
