CHANDLER, Ariz. - The City of Chandler is asking residents to help make sidewalks safer and more accessible. They are conducting a study to find places where there are gaps in sidewalks or shared use paths. The goal is to improve connections and accessibility for people who walk, bike or roll within the city.

A "gap" can be a place with no sidewalk, but it can also mean a place that is hard to get to, a sidewalk that is too narrow or a path that doesn't lead to a destination. Participants are asked to answer the survey questions and click on the link at the end to place a marker on the map where gaps create access or safety issues for residents.

Once the gaps have been identified, the City of Chandler will analyze the data along with survey, demographic, zoning and Census information to help decide how to prioritize improvements.

The survey is available at chandleraz.gov/SidewalkGapSurvey through Aug. 9.
