ERO Boston arrests Haitian national charged with sex crime against Massachusetts resident

BOSTON - Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston apprehended an unlawfully present 30-year-old Haitian noncitizen charged with sexually assaulting a Massachusetts resident. Officers from ERO Boston arrested Jefferson Jerome Sept. 11 in Dorchester.

"Jefferson Jerome stands accused of a horrific crime against a resident of our Massachusetts community," said ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons. "We will not tolerate the victimization of our neighbors. ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by apprehending and removing egregious noncitizen offenders from New England."

U.S. Border Patrol arrested Jerome Sept. 21, 2021, after he unlawfully entered the United States near Del Rio, Texas, and returned him to Mexico.

Jerome attempted to enter the United States Dec. 15, 2022, at the Brownsville, Texas, port of entry. U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended Jerome and served him with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge.

The Dorchester District Court arraigned Jerome Sept. 11 for the offense of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 years of age. The Dorchester District Court released Jerome on pretrial conditions, which included a GPS monitoring device.

Officers from ERO Boston arrested Jerome Sept 11 at the Dorchester District Court, after his release from state custody. He remains in ERO custody.

ERO conducts removals of individuals without a lawful basis to remain in the United States, including at the order of immigration judges with Department of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration Review. The Executive Office for Immigration Review is a separate entity from the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Immigration judges in these courts make decisions based on the merits of each individual case, determining if a noncitizen is subject to a final order of removal or eligible for certain forms of relief from removal.
