Carlie Spencer ‘20 joins Campbell Law’s Gailor Family Law Litigation Clinic

RALEIGH- Carlie Spencer '20 joined Campbell Law School's Gailor Family Law Litigation Clinicas a supervising attorney on Aug. 12, Dean J. Rich Leonard has announced.

Spencer serves as supervising attorney in the Gailor Family Law Litigation Clinic, where she works with Clinic Director Richard Waugamann '12.

Spencer most recently served as a family law attorney in the Strive Law Firm, which she founded in Raleigh. She has also practiced family law in Raleigh as an associate with Kurtz & Blum PLLC and Breeden Law Office.

"I channel my passion into advocating for my family law clients, showcasing expertise in various areas including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, domestic violence and more," Spencer wrote on her firm's website. "Recognizing the emotional challenges of family law matters, I am dedicated to helping clients navigate the legal system and achieve the best outcomes for their families."

Spencer has been named among the Top 40 Under 40 of National Trial Lawyers and was recognized among the 2023 Super Lawyers Rising Stars.

She currently serves on the executive board of Capital City Clauses.

"Carlie's commitment to helping North Carolina families navigate the complexities of family law made her the prime candidate for this new role at the law school," Leonard said.

Spencer added she utilizes her background in data analytics to assist clients with their family financial matters with high-level understanding and the ability to provide comprehensive financial and legal advice during the division of assets or spousal support areas of family law proceedings.

Spencer has also served as a freelance media consultant for Blue Comet Media and volunteered as general counsel for the Miss North Carolina Education Scholarship Board.

While in law school, she ran for Raleigh City Council, earned the National Mock Trial Outstanding Advocate Award, participated in the Business Law Clinic and earned the title of Miss Raleigh.

Spencer, who is originally from Montgomery, Alabama, also earned a scholarship from the Miss America Association. In 2017, she graduated from Troy University, with a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics. She served as president of Alpha Gamma Delta, vice president of the Order of Omega Honors Society, president of the Student Alumni Association, among others, and was a member of the Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honors Society.
