Three People Indicted for Conspiring to Smuggle Phones, Drugs, and Weapons Into Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center

PHILADELPHIA - United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero announced that Breyanna Cornish, 29, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jawayne Brown, 40, also of Philadelphia, and Ahmad Nasir, 43, currently residing at State Correctional Institution - Greene, Franklin Township, Pa., have been charged by indictment with federal program bribery for engaging in a conspiracy to smuggle contraband - including cellphones, narcotics/controlled substances and weapons - into the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center. Brown and Nasir also face additional charges related to a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute Suboxone.

If convicted, Cornish faces a maximum possible sentence of 15 years' imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $500,000. Brown faces up to 25 years' imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. Nasir faces a maximum of 35 years' imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1.5 million.

The case was investigated by the FBI, with significant assistance from the Philadelphia Department of Prisons, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Meghan E. Claiborne.

An indictment, information, or criminal complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
