IEC Academy Masterclass: introducing the IEC 60335 series

The safety of household and similar electrical appliances is the subject of a new IEC Academy Masterclass. Over the course of four hours, on 21st January 2025, the online masterclass will provide guidance on the essentials of the IEC 60335 series of international standards.<_o3a_p>

Topics covered will include the importance of the IEC 60335 series in product safety and compliance, as well as the core principles behind the standards and their role in ensuring appliance safety. It will provide advice on how to navigate the series to find relevant information addressing specific needs. The masterclass will also offer an overview of key topics such as battery safety, optical radiation, surface temperature, functional safety and commercial appliances.<_o3a_p>

Who should attend?<_o3a_p>

The IEC Academy Masterclass is ideal for technical experts, product designers and professionals from manufacturing sites or testing labs who are new to the IEC 60335 series or seeking a refresher on its basics.<_o3a_p>

Household appliances have developed into an immense industry. Including both large appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines as well as small appliances like toasters and irons, it is a market that is expected to grow.<_o3a_p>

The IEC 60335 series provide protection against many types of hazards such as electrical, mechanical, thermal, fire and radiation when appliances are used under normal conditions. It also considers how electromagnetic phenomena can affect the safe operation of appliances. <_o3a_p>
