Town of Fort Myers Beach Building Official has Red Tagged seven properties on Fort Myers Beach!

July 16, 2024, Town Building Official began the Reg Tag process. Once a property is Red Tagged, the property owner has 60 days to come into compliance. These 60 days will allow the property owner to abate the unsafe structure through the demolition process at their cost and initiative. If they do not respond or initiate any process of demolition in the fair and reasonable time frame, the Town will move forward. All Red Tagged properties that were provided by the Building Official have Code Cases created and have been posted with all Due Process:

  • Posted Red Tag at the physical property
  • Certified mailings done through USPS to all entities with vested interests in said property.
  • Case / Building Officials Notices posted at the Town of Fort Myers Beach Town Hall reception area for public perusal.
  • Case / Building Officials Notices posted to the Town of Fort Myers Beach Official Website page at the Public Notices Section.

As we all continue to work together to rebuild our beautiful Island, the Town of Fort Myers Beach would like to thank the property owners that have been proactive in bringing their property into compliance before the Town had to get involved.
