Arrest Made in Southeast Shooting

The Metropolitan Police Department arrested a man for shooting two others in Southeast.

On Thursday, August 1, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Newcomb Street, Southeast for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located two men with gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A short time later, MPD received another call for a shooting victim in the 3900 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast. Officers located an adult male with gunshot injuries and injuries consistent with an assault. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The man was later placed under arrest after the detectives' investigation determined he was the suspect in the Newcomb Street shooting. The investigation revealed the shooting was the result of a dispute amongst known parties.

35-year-old Donnell Antonio Wells, of Southeast, was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
