New Waco Fire Chief Scott Walker Officially Sworn In

Fire Chief Scott Walker takes oath of office administered by Waco City Councilmember Josh Borderud.

On Monday, August 12, Scott Walker was officially sworn in as the City of Waco's new fire chief. The brief ceremony took place in the community room at Fire Station #6, marking a new chapter for the Waco Fire Department under Chief Walker's leadership.

The City of Waco is excited to have Chief Walker join the team and looks forward to his contributions to the community. We are confident that he will build on our department's strong foundation, continue to enhance the safety and well-being of our residents, and lead our fire department to new heights of excellence.

About Chief Walker

Chief Scott Walker brings over 30 years of fire service experience to Waco. He joins us from the Phoenix Fire Department where he served as Executive Assistant Fire Chief. In Phoenix, he operated the fifth-largest city in the United States, showcasing his expertise in every aspect of a modern, all-hazards fire department. His diverse experience includes fire operations, fire prevention, emergency management, fire logistics, public information, and fiscal management. Walker holds a bachelor's degree in public safety and emergency management from Grand Canyon University and an associate's degree in applied science in fire science from Phoenix Community College. He has also completed the Naval Postgraduate Leadership Program.

Walker was selected from a highly competitive pool of 60 applicants after an extensive nationwide search. His impressive leadership qualities and extensive experience make him an invaluable asset to our community.
