On Sunday, 08/18/24 shortly after 1:00am, SPD received a report of a drive-by shooting in the 4900 block of N. Magnolia. Officers discovered shell casings in the street upon arrival. They attempted to talk to residents of a house on the block who were not cooperative and provided different accounts of what happened, including a person coming out of the house and firing a gun. No victims were located at the house.

A very short time later, officers responded to a near-by residence in the 1800 block of South Riverton referencing a male who showed up with a gunshot wound. Officers located a male who had been shot on the ground outside of a vehicle. Officers treated his wounds which did not appear life-threatening at the time. The victim's girlfriend relayed the shooting happened near Mission and Hamilton while they were driving but there was no evidence of a bullet hitting the car. A firearm and loaded magazine were located inside the vehicle. Officers were again met with uncooperative witnesses including some involved persons. This shooting remains under investigation. If you have information on this incident, you are asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233 and reference case #2024-20167659.
