JOINT LEADERSHIP STATEMENT ON CONGRESSMAN JAMAAL BOWMAN

Washington, DC - Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar issued the following statement on Congressman Jamaal Bowman:

From his first days in the Congress, Representative Jamaal Bowman has been a passionate and dedicated champion for everyday Americans, working hard to make a difference for historically disadvantaged communities. Never forgetting his lived experience growing up in public housing during the crack cocaine epidemic and two decades spent as an educator, Rep. Bowman has always fought for the least, the lost and the left behind.

He immediately got to work championing the cause of economic justice, public housing and access to high-quality public education. Rep. Bowman was instrumental in the enactment of the CHIPS and Science Act into law. During the once-in-a-century COVID-19 pandemic, he delivered for his constituents, spearheading the effort to bring a mass vaccination site to Co-Op City in the Bronx.

We are grateful for Rep. Bowman's contributions to the Congress and the country. We wish him well in the next chapter of his public service journey.
