Grant launches the Terracon Endowment for the Lyles School of Civil Engineering

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. - The Terracon Foundation announced a $50,000 grant to Purdue University to fund the Terracon Endowment for the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering (LSCCE), which will support attracting undergraduate and graduate students to geotechnical engineering.

"This grant establishes a permanent endowment that will advance strategic initiatives for the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering," said Kellen Heavin, P.E., manager of Terracon's Indianapolis office and a Purdue graduate. "The school is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 civil engineering undergraduate and graduate programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report, and the endowment will support its commitment to produce the most well-rounded, highest performing graduates to enter the engineering profession."

Based in West Lafayette, Indiana, Purdue University is a public, land-grant university with 11 colleges and schools and more than 2,000 faculty and staff. Its West Lafayette campus has more than 50,000 students representing more than 135 countries while the Indianapolis campus boasts nearly 20 STEM-focused majors.

"This endowment will enable LSCCE students to gain a deeper appreciation of the opportunities in geotechnical engineering applications to benefit society," said Rao S. Govindaraju, Bowen Engineering Head of Civil Engineering and Christopher B. and Susan S. Burke Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering.

The Terracon Foundation encourages employees to submit grant requests each year for organizations focused on education as well as the built and natural environment. To date, the Terracon Foundation has granted over $4 million to community organizations, universities, dependents of employees, and disaster relief efforts.
