Princeton Review: Lawrence Tech once again among nation’s top universities

SOUTHFIELD-Lawrence Technological University has again been listed among the nation's top colleges and universities by the academic publisher Princeton Review.

LTU is included in "The Best 390 Colleges 2025 Edition," the company's annual list of top colleges and universities in the nation, now available at bookstores and online. Only about 15% of the nation's colleges and universities make the list.

The Princeton Review chose the 390 colleges based on data it collects annually from surveys of 2,000 college administrators about their institutions' academic offerings. The company also reviews data from an 89-question survey of 168,000 students at the listed schools. The survey asked students to rate their colleges on dozens of topics and report on their campus experiences. Information on the student survey process and methodology for the ranking lists is on The Princeton Review's website at https://www.princetonreview.com/college-rankings/best-colleges. The print edition of the list is available from Penguin Random House for $27.99.

"We salute Lawrence Technological University for its outstanding academics, and its many other impressive offerings. We're delighted to recommend it as an ideal choice for students searching for their 'best-fit' college," said Rob Franek, Princeton Review's editor-in-chief and lead author of "The Best 390 Colleges."

Said LTU President Tarek M. Sobh: "This recognition by Princeton Review is a validation of the hard work of our faculty and staff to provide our students with a world-class,technologically focused education in all disciplines-an education that results in rewarding and meaningful careers. Reading the positive comments from students is especially gratifying, and a signal to young people searching for a college, that they'll find a welcoming, high-achieving atmosphere at LTU."

The Princeton Review profile praises LTU's "small class sizes with one-on-one opportunities" with professors, and plenty of certification, coaching, and consulting support through "professional programs for helping with future careers." The profile notes that "LTU has an excellent reputation with companies that recruit and hire students," and its professors are "clearly knowledgeable in their fields and do their best to share that experience with students, "frequently bringing in guests from popular companies to explain how our work is tied to real-life work scenarios." Students also mentioned LTU's "up-to-date labs and tools" as well as the university's free laptop program.

The profile also notes that "With having a small campus comes having a close-knit student body," and there is "a strong sense of community" where "everyone really looks out for each other." As one student says: "If you ask for help from any of your peers, you'll receive it, or you'll solve the problem together." And despite being a smaller university, students noted that LTU attracts "a group of diverse students who come from different backgrounds, races, and countries." As for campus life, students reported that most out-of-classroom socializing comes by way of clubs, intramural sports, and "a great array of organizations which allow for anyone to find their interest." At least once a week, students said, there is an activity hosted by a student organization "that is fun and interactive to attend," and that LTU students are busy with "lots of studying [and being] devoted to school and a career afterwards."

LTU was also featured on Princeton Review's "Best Midwestern" colleges and "Best Green Colleges" list. Only 150 of the 655 four-year colleges in Michigan and eight other Midwestern states made the Best Midwestern list. Just 455 four-year colleges made the Green Colleges list for their environmental leadership.
