State Police charge Poughkeepsie man in abuse case

On August 11, 2024, State Police Arrested Garnet G. Collins, age 50, of Poughkeepsie, NY, on two counts of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person 1st degree, a class E felony, and one count of forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor.

Collins, an employee at the Anderson Center for Autism in Staatsburg, NY, was charged following an investigation into incidents involving two different residents at the center. Troopers processed Collins at SP Rhinebeck and transported him to Hyde Park Town Court, where he was arraigned and released. The judge also issued an order of protection for both victims. Collins is due back in court on September 26.
