Tampere wins joint award with LG and Nokia Arena in the human-centered category at Seoul's Smart City gala

An international smart city event is currently underway in Seoul, where the Seoul Smart City Awards were presented at the gala in three categories: Technological Innovation City, Human-Centeredness, and Leadership. Tampere was awarded alongside LG and Nokia Arena for its human-centered smart city efforts, where innovative smart solutions and collaboration create engaging visitor experiences for citizens at Nokia Arena, enhanced by LG's displays.

In Seoul's competition, a human-centered city is described as one that implements digital equality in its projects and actively works to address digital inequality. According to the competition criteria, a human-centered smart city considers special population groups in its digital solutions.

The awarded solution is based on the collaboration between LG and Nokia Arena, where the visitor experience at Nokia Arena is enhanced through LG's smart displays. Nokia Arena serves as an international-level innovation platform and an enabler of experiences in Tampere.

-In Tampere, city development projects are not just development projects but become ecosystems. For example, with Nokia Arena, the vision from the beginning was that the arena would also serve as a test platform for companies, says Teppo Rantanen, Executive Director, Competitiveness and Innovation at the City of Tampere.
