NOPD Investigating Hit & Run Traffic Fatality

The NOPD Traffic Division's Hit and Run Unit is investigating a hit & run accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian last night, (September 27, 2024).

The incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m., when an unidentified adult, Hispanic male apparently walked into oncoming traffic at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Thalia Street.

EMS arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine cause of death and identify the victim upon notification of family.

At this time investigators do not have information about the vehicle involved and are trying to determine how and why the accident occurred.
