Hoag Earns Straight “A’s” on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

Both Newport Beach and Irvine hospitals continue to set the standard for patient safety, achieving the nation's top honor

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., November 15, 2024 - Hoag has once again been awarded straight "A's" by the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for its hospitals in Newport Beach and Irvine, continuing its exceptional track record in patient safety. This designation places Hoag among the nation's top-performing hospitals for protecting patients from preventable harm and medical errors, a reflection of the organization's commitment to high-quality, compassionate care for all of Orange County.

A Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade "A" represents can extraordinary accomplishment for Hoag's entire staff. This honor is based on 22 evidence-based measures that significantly improve patient outcomes, including reducing length of stay and mortality rates. Hoag's ongoing dedication to patient safety not only enhances care but also brings financial benefits by actively protecting patients and optimizing their recovery.

Leapfrog assigns these grates to nearly 3,000 general acute care hospitals across the U.S., drawing data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and other supplemental sources. These grades reflect a hospital's performance in preventing medical errors, injures, accidents, and infections. Hoag's consistent record of straight "A's" underscores its leadership in patient safety.
